Portal to appear at the Akureyri Botanic Garden

Reykjavík based artist Galadriel González Romero invites you to join her in creating a portal to escape the climate crisis.

As part of an art collaboration with the Akureyri Botanic Garden, a soil sod collected from the garden spent an extended time at 29.5°C, Akureyri's highest temperature.

On Sunday the 1st of June a ceremony will take place to return the soil to garden, alongside a seed that may sprout in a potentially warmer future.

The event will take place in the Alpine garden (the western part of the garden) at 15:30, with foraged herbal tea provided (please bring a reusable tea cup!).

You can find out more about the artist and her work here.

Galadriel will also be appear at the International Conference - Tales of the Nature Spirits, May 31st in Hof.

Staff ask that people please refrain from climbing on the rocks in the alpine garden.
